Weekend Wrap Up

Wrapping up another busy weekend.

Friday the hubby and I went out to celebrate my bday. I got ready at work so that he could pick me up and not see me get ready. I do that about once a month during the nicer months. We went out to the Fondue restaurant called Gejas, that I absolutely love, but it's kinda expensive. Made for a very nice evening.

Saturday I had class and then after I went to the Field Museum with some friends. After doing a little homework for my Monday class, we went out to dinner to my favorite dinner called Nookies (I love the oxymoron of eating at a diner in the middle of Chicago). Ran into two groups of people that we knew, which was awesome because it made me feel like I was starting to know people around the city (I've been here about a year and a half).

Today I had some more filming and then went to watch a friend's Flag Football game. Went out for beers after as is customary for sporting events. We were going to make sushi over at the condo, but Pete is really sick so we went out for sushi instead.

So where was the writing in all that? That's the problem. Not counting lunch on Friday, there wasn't any. Also didn't do any work for my work side project. On the plus side, I met a CP on this great website and she gave some great feedback for my first five chapters (which are very small and is the word count of a normal chapter). However, I hope to have my first five chapters fixed by Thursday of this week and the second five ready to go for Thursday of the following.

I'm actually going to do my own NaNoWriMo Lite which will be to write those afformentioned 20k. Also means that I want to be done with revising my current set before November.

Is anyone else planning on doing NaNoWriMo? What do people usually do if you are on a project with NaNoWriMo rolls around?

I plan on doing it and I'm going to actually try to do the whole, "don't sleep, don't do anything but type" schedule. We'll see. It doesn't really take that long to write 1,680 words (rounded up) but it's finding the time to do it and the plot to keep it going. I'm going to do it though and I'm hoping to make a tiny youtube video about it here shortly.

Good luck with NaNoWriMo! That's so awesome :)

Are you going to put aside your current project during that time?

Also, good luck with the youtube video, that sounds super cool!

Hi! Just found your blog through magickat's! Is NaNoWriMo the thing where you write a novel in one weekend? I thought about trying that out but it seemed a bit scary. ;)

*sniff* Gejas, and Nookies, and flag football? I miss Chicago!

I'm doing NaNo but I still haven't come up with an idea yet. I figure I have another month. :)

karma lenon: Thanks for visiting my blog! NaNoWriMo is when you write a 50K novel in a month. I mostly don't want to leave my current story for a month to work on a new one. I think that I might try to write a certain word count in my current project, but not 50k--20k in a month would be incredible for me! I'm not as hard core, I guess :-P

melanie: I'll make sure to blog about the bitter cold of winter and you won't miss Chicago one bit :-P

Yep, I'll put it to the side. I figure if I go to the RT convention, I can pitch this book then. I'll have to get the cps lined up and get the book a good rewrite before I try to pitch, but it will be worth it. I'm trying to finish a few extra projects I've got going right now. I'm hoping to finish writing two books this month or next. I might be getting ahead of myself, but that's the goal. I won't be finished with the editing, but I'll stop it to do the NaNoWriMo and have a third book started and ready to go.

LOL, except then I'll be jealous that you get to wear fun coats and hats and scarves. I miss the seasons. :)
